What we look for

We are seeking a creative problem-solver with proven industry experience designing for complex healthcare systems. This role requires a unique blend of executive-facing communication skills and hands-on execution expertise, designing intuitive digital experiences that leverage the power of AI.

The ideal candidate thrives in ambiguous environments, approaches challenges with resourcefulness and speed, and can translate intricate healthcare workflows into intuitive, human-centered experiences — from concept to delivery. This position requires a highly independent, self-directed professional who takes minimal direction, proactively executes tasks, and follows through on commitments with limited oversight.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead UX design initiatives for complex healthcare platforms, applications, and systems, ensuring solutions meet multi-level stakeholder needs.
  • Collaborate directly with senior executives, clinical leadership, and technology teams to align UX strategies with organizational goals.
  • Tackle problems with creative, fast-moving solution design, balancing innovation with technical feasibility.
  • Integrate and leverage AI tools, models, and analytics into design solutions to streamline workflows, enhance decision-making, and improve user engagement.
  • Conduct user research, journey mapping, and usability testing within regulated healthcare settings.
  • Translate research insights and data into actionable design recommendations for multi-stakeholder audiences.
  • Produce clear, compelling design presentations for C-suite, clinicians, and technical teams.
  • Apply UX best practices for responsive layouts, information architecture, and accessibility, ensuring solutions are compliant with healthcare regulations and standards.
  • Integrate AI-powered features into the user experience, designing interfaces for analytics dashboards, predictive tools, and decision-support modules that feel seamless and actionable to all users.
  • Own the end-to-end design lifecycle, from ideation and mapping to usability testing and design iteration, collaborating closely with developers to maintain fidelity of design vision through implementation.
  • Create and maintain design systems and style guides for consistency across product lines, adapting to both user feedback and evolving organizational strategy.
  • Present design rationale and prototypes to senior executives, clinicians, and technical stakeholders, incorporating feedback to ensure alignment with business goals and user needs.
  • Directly design user interfaces and experience flows for healthcare applications, expertly translating research findings and system requirements into visually intuitive, accessible, and emotionally resonant screens and interactions.
  • Develop wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups, refining complex workflows into clear, user-centered patterns.
  • Partner with development teams to ensure seamless handoff and implementation of design specifications.
  • Maintain awareness of industry best practices, regulatory requirements, and emerging technologies in healthcare and AI UX.
  • Operate independently with minimal supervision, proactively identifying opportunities, managing priorities, and driving projects to completion without requiring constant guidance or check-ins.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human–Computer Science, Interaction Design, or a related field (minimum). Preferred Master’s degree in Human–Computer Interaction (HCI) or related field.
  • 5+ years UX design experience within healthcare industry, digital health platforms, or complex enterprise environments.
  • Demonstrated mastery of design thinking principles and methodologies, including deep understanding of human-centered design, systems thinking, and iterative problem-solving frameworks that balance user needs, business viability, and technical feasibility.
  • Proven alignment with core UX practices: research-driven design, strategic thinking rooted in user insights, and adherence to established design theory and best practices. Must be able to articulate and defend design decisions through the lens of foundational UX principles.
  • Proven success designing for multi-user, high-stakes workflows in regulated industries.
  • Exceptional ability to communicate design rationale to senior leaders, distilling complex information into strategic narratives.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing end-to-end UX design processes, from problem framing to solution deployment, with clear evidence of design thinking application, user research integration, and strategic design rationale.
  • Experience incorporating AI models (e.g., predictive analytics, machine learning algorithms, generative tools) into user-facing solutions.
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, and familiarity with agile development environments.
  • Background in user research, service design, and journey mapping within healthcare contexts.
  • Understanding of HIPAA and other relevant privacy/regulatory standards.
  • Self-starter mentality with proven track record of independently driving projects from inception to delivery with minimal oversight.

Preferred Attributes

  • Resourceful, adaptive, and able to work at high speed without sacrificing quality.
  • Comfortable navigating both big-picture strategy and detail-level design execution.
  • Passionate about integrating AI as a design partner, not just a backend technology.
  • Skilled at transforming operational complexity into clear, empathetic, and actionable user experiences.
  • Adept at influencing decision-making among cross-functional leadership teams.
  • Strong philosophical and practical foundation in user-centered design principles, with the ability to mentor others and advocate for research-informed, strategically sound design approaches.
  • Excellent at anticipating needs, proactively communicating progress, and taking ownership of outcomes without requiring step-by-step direction.

Assessment Process

Candidates will be evaluated on their design thinking aptitude and alignment with core UX practices through:

  • Survey application
  • Portfolio review focusing on evidence of research integration, strategic thinking, and design methodology
  • Case study presentation demonstrating problem-framing, research approach, design rationale, and impact measurement
  • Methodology discussion exploring understanding of UX research methods, design strategy frameworks, and theoretical foundations
